Dear dharma friends,

Simhanada encourages all dharma practitioners to participate in the following prayer (or mantra) initiatives:

(1) The Vajra Guru Project

With the successful completion of the Billion Mantra Initiative (see below), the Gyalwa Karmapa has suggested that dharma practitioners join in the recitation of the Vajra Guru mantra.

The Vajra Guru mantra is the prayer which invokes the blessing of Guru Rinpoche (also known as Padmasambhava).

Guru Rinpoche is the great saint who brought Buddhism from India to Tibet in the 8th Century, C.E.

For more information, please visit Khandro.net.

(2) Karmapa Khyenno Mantras

As of July, 2006, more than one billion "Karmapa Khyenno" mantras were chanted for the long life and buddha activity of the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa. This accomplishment successfully completed the Billion Mantra Initiative (BMI). The BMI was a project started by one of Thrangu Rinpoche's students in California.

Even though we reached our goal of one billion mantras, the recitation project is still ongoing. For more information on how to participate, please visit Khandro.net.

Although this special dharma practice is dedicated to the activity of the Gyalwa Karmapa, any merit accrued from it is dedicated to all sentient beings everywhere.
