Lumbini The site of the birth of the Lord Buddha Shakyamuni
Lumbini park is the site where the Buddha was born.  His mother, the Queen Maha Maya Devi, stood between two sala trees and gave birth to the future Buddha from her right side.  She then bathed herself and the young child in a pool nearby.
