Mahasiddha Saraha

The Mahasiddha Saraha was born into a high class of India, and received the transmissions of tantras from King Visukalpa. This King received these transmissions from the dakinis in Guru Padmasambhava’s pure realm.  The Bodhisattvas Sukhanatha and Ratnamati likewise taught Saraha. Saraha became renown for his spiritually poetic songs (dohas).  In the history of the Kagyu lineage, numerous masters sang dohas as a means to teach Buddhism. Saraha was also a past incarnation of the Gyalwa Karmapas.
